Embodying Emotions: A Simple Method for Improving Spiritual and Mindfulness Practices

The ability to tolerate opposites in human experience is considered to be an important (if not the most important) qualification for personal and spiritual development. All other qualifications can be seen as difficult to achieve without this capacity – a capacity called “affect tolerance” in psychology, or titiksa in Advaita Vedanta.

In the seminar, the science-backed and body-based practice of “embodying emotions” from Integral Somatic Psychotherapy (ISP) will be introduced as an effective but simple method for improving psychological, mindfulness, and spiritual practices. This topic will be treated in greater depth (in both theory and practice) over the four-week course to follow on April 28, May 5, May 12, and May 19.

This seminar is intended for anyone practicing meditation, mindfulness or any other spiritual practice – including a path of “non-duality” or “enlightenment”. It is also intended for therapists of all modalities, who are looking for a complementary method for improving their outcomes and shortening treatment times in their practice.
